  • What is a Stimulus? Understanding Organismal Responses
Anything that causes a response in an organism is called a stimulus.

    Here's why:

    * Stimulus: A stimulus is any change in the internal or external environment that can be detected by an organism. This change can be anything from a change in temperature, light, sound, touch, chemicals, or even internal factors like blood sugar levels.

    * Response: The response is the reaction of the organism to the stimulus. It can be a physical reaction, like moving away from a hot stove, or a physiological reaction, like sweating when you're hot.

    Example:

    * Stimulus: The smell of food

    * Response: Salivation and feelings of hunger
