  • What is a Genome? Understanding Chromosomes and Genetic Material
    The correct term is genome.

    Here's why:

    * Genome: The complete set of genetic material present in an organism. This includes all the genes located on all the chromosomes.

    * Chromosome: A thread-like structure made of DNA and protein found in the nucleus of most living cells, carrying genetic information in the form of genes.

While a chromosome holds a significant portion of an organism's genes, the term "genome" encompasses all the genes on all the chromosomes within an organism.
