    The two hyphae involved in sexual reproduction are called the plus (+) hypha and the minus (-) hypha.

    These hyphae are often referred to as gametangia as they are specialized structures that produce gametes. When the plus and minus hyphae fuse, they form a zygote, which then develops into a zygospore.
