  • Haploid Cells in Meiosis: Sperm & Egg – Understanding Gametes
The two kinds of haploid cells made in meiosis are sperm and egg cells.

    * Sperm cells are the male gametes, produced in the testes.

    * Egg cells are the female gametes, produced in the ovaries.

These haploid cells each contain half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell, and when they fuse together during fertilization, they form a diploid zygote with a complete set of chromosomes.
