  • Photosynthesis: The Source of Ingredients for Plant Life
    The ingredients for photosynthesis come from two main sources:

    1. From the environment:

    * Carbon dioxide (CO2): This is taken in from the air through tiny pores called stomata on the leaves of plants.

    * Water (H2O): This is absorbed from the soil through the plant's roots.

    2. From inside the plant:

    * Light energy: This is captured by the chlorophyll in the chloroplasts of plant cells. Chlorophyll is a pigment that absorbs light energy, primarily in the red and blue wavelengths.

    To summarize:

    * CO2 + H2O + Light energy --> Glucose + Oxygen

    This process, known as photosynthesis, allows plants to create their own food (glucose) and release oxygen as a byproduct.
