  • Mitosis and Meiosis: Understanding Cell Division
The type of cell division that produces daughter cells is both mitosis and meiosis.

    Here's why:

    * Mitosis: This is the process of cell division that produces two identical daughter cells from a single parent cell. This is how most cells in the body replicate for growth and repair.

    * Meiosis: This is the process of cell division that produces four daughter cells, each with half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell. This is how gametes (sperm and egg cells) are produced for sexual reproduction.

While both mitosis and meiosis result in daughter cells, they differ in their purpose and the number of chromosomes in the resulting cells.
