1. G1 Phase (First Gap): This is the longest phase of interphase. The cell grows and synthesizes proteins and organelles. This is also the stage where the cell checks its internal and external environment to see if conditions are right for cell division.
2. S Phase (Synthesis): During this phase, the cell replicates its DNA. This ensures that each daughter cell will receive a complete copy of the genome.
3. G2 Phase (Second Gap): In this stage, the cell continues to grow and produce proteins. The cell also prepares for mitosis by synthesizing the necessary proteins for cell division and checking that DNA replication was successful.
Remember, Interphase is NOT part of mitosis. It is the period between two successive mitotic divisions during which the cell grows and copies its DNA.
