  • Understanding Adult Stem Cells: Multipotent & Unipotent Types
There are not three, but two main types of stem cells found in adults:

    1. Multipotent stem cells: These cells can differentiate into a limited number of cell types within a specific tissue or organ. For example, hematopoietic stem cells in bone marrow can give rise to all types of blood cells.

    2. Unipotent stem cells: These cells are the most specialized and can only differentiate into one cell type. For example, muscle stem cells can only become muscle cells.

It's important to note that there are other stem cell types that are being studied, but these two are the most commonly recognized in adults.
