    The four major macromolecules found in living things are:

    2. Lipids: These are also known as fats and oils. They are made up of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, but in different proportions than carbohydrates. Lipids provide long-term energy storage, insulation, and protection for organs. Examples include triglycerides, phospholipids, and steroids.

    3. Proteins: These are made up of amino acids. They are essential for a wide variety of functions in the body, including building and repairing tissues, transporting substances, and catalyzing chemical reactions. Examples include enzymes, hormones, and antibodies.

    4. Nucleic acids: These are made up of nucleotides. They are responsible for storing and transmitting genetic information. Examples include DNA and RNA.

    These four macromolecules are essential for all living things and play crucial roles in maintaining life.
