  • Cell Organelles: Structure, Functions, and Examples
The tiny organs that perform specific functions inside the cell are called organelles.

Here are some examples of organelles and their functions:

    * Nucleus: Contains the cell's genetic material (DNA) and controls cellular activities.

    * Ribosomes: Sites of protein synthesis.

    * Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): A network of membranes involved in protein and lipid synthesis and transport.

    * Golgi Apparatus: Modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and lipids for secretion or delivery to other organelles.

    * Mitochondria: Powerhouses of the cell, responsible for cellular respiration and ATP production.

    * Lysosomes: Contain digestive enzymes that break down waste materials and cellular debris.

    * Vacuoles: Store water, nutrients, and waste products.

    * Chloroplasts (in plant cells): Sites of photosynthesis, converting light energy into chemical energy.

    * Centrioles (in animal cells): Help with cell division and the formation of cilia and flagella.

Each organelle plays a crucial role in the overall functioning of the cell.
