  • Cell Membrane Functions: Why Plastic Bags Fall Short

    * Signal transduction: Cell membranes receive signals from the environment and transmit them into the cell. Plastic bags cannot mimic this complex signaling process.

    * Cell-cell communication: Cell membranes allow cells to interact and communicate with each other, forming tissues and organs. Plastic bags do not facilitate this communication.

    In short: While a plastic bag can demonstrate some basic functions of the cell membrane like acting as a barrier, it fails to capture the intricate and dynamic nature of selective permeability, signal transduction, and cell-cell communication.
