    A living thing that produces another like itself is called a reproducer.

    More specifically, we can use these terms:

    * Organism: A living thing capable of reproduction.

    * Parent: The organism that produces offspring.

    * Progenitor: An ancestor, specifically one that produces offspring through reproduction.

    There are different types of reproduction, including:

    * Sexual reproduction: Involves the combination of genetic material from two parents.

    * Asexual reproduction: Involves only one parent, and offspring are genetically identical to the parent.
