Here's why:
* Ribosomes are the protein synthesis factories of the cell. They read the genetic code from messenger RNA (mRNA) and use it to assemble amino acids into proteins.
* DNA contains the genetic blueprint for the cell. It resides in the nucleus and is not directly involved in protein synthesis.
* mRNA carries the genetic code from DNA in the nucleus to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm.
* Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is a major component of ribosomes and helps in the process of protein synthesis.
* Transfer RNA (tRNA) carries amino acids to the ribosomes, where they are added to the growing protein chain.
So, while DNA is the original source of the genetic information, it doesn't directly participate in the protein-building process at the ribosome.
