  • Egg Floating Experiment: Investigating Buoyancy & Density

Abstract: Exploring the Factors Influencing Egg Buoyancy

This investigatory project examines the factors that affect an egg's ability to float in water. We hypothesize that the density of the water solution is the primary factor influencing an egg's buoyancy, with higher density solutions allowing the egg to float.

To test this hypothesis, we will systematically add increasing amounts of salt to water, creating solutions with varying densities. We will then observe the egg's behavior in each solution, recording its position (sink, float, or partially submerged).

This experiment will provide insight into the concept of buoyancy and its relation to density. The findings will be analyzed to determine the specific density threshold required for an egg to float and to identify any other factors that may contribute to buoyancy. This project has the potential to enhance our understanding of the principles governing buoyancy and how it relates to everyday phenomena.
