  • Understanding the Seed Embryo: The Key to New Plant Growth
The tiny part of a seed that grows into a new plant is the embryo.

    Here's a breakdown:

    * Seed: A seed is a protective package containing everything a new plant needs to start growing.

    * Embryo: The embryo is the tiny, undeveloped plant inside the seed. It's like a miniature version of the full-grown plant.

    * Cotyledons: The embryo is attached to one or two fleshy structures called cotyledons. These provide food for the developing embryo until it can produce its own through photosynthesis.

When conditions are right (moisture, temperature, etc.), the embryo starts to grow, using the food stored in the cotyledons. It sends out a root to anchor itself and a shoot that grows towards the light, eventually developing into the leaves and stem of a new plant.
