  • Auditory Ossicle Vibration Sequence: Understanding Ear Bones
The order in which the auditory ossicles (bones) vibrate in the middle ear is:

    1. Malleus (hammer): This bone is attached to the eardrum and vibrates in response to sound waves hitting the eardrum.

    2. Incus (anvil): The malleus transmits vibrations to the incus, which is connected to the stapes.

    3. Stapes (stirrup): The incus transfers vibrations to the stapes, the smallest bone in the body. The stapes is connected to the oval window, a membrane-covered opening in the inner ear.

This chain reaction of vibrations amplifies sound waves and transmits them to the inner ear for processing.
