There are two types of hermaphrodites:
* Simultaneous hermaphrodites: These organisms have both male and female reproductive organs functioning at the same time. Examples include earthworms, snails, and some species of fish.
* Sequential hermaphrodites: These organisms start life as one sex and then transition to the other sex later in life. Examples include clownfish and some species of wrasses.
It's important to note that not all hermaphrodites can self-fertilize. Some species require cross-fertilization with another individual.
