  • Viruses: Are They Alive or Not? Understanding Viral Nature
    Scientists consider viruses to be non-living because they do not meet all the criteria for life. Viruses lack cellular structure, do not have a metabolism, and cannot reproduce on their own. They require a living host cell in order to replicate and survive. Additionally, viruses do not respond to stimuli and do not grow or develop.
