  • Understanding Nuclear Envelope: Separation of Nucleus and Cytoplasm
The nucleus of a cell is separated from the cytoplasm by a double membrane called the nuclear envelope or nuclear membrane. This nuclear envelope consists of two phospholipid bilayers with nuclear pores that allow for the exchange of materials between the nucleus and the cytoplasm. The nuclear envelope also contains proteins that help to regulate the movement of molecules into and out of the nucleus.
