  • Cystic Fibrosis (CF): Understanding the Inherited Disease & Airway Obstruction
The inherited disease of exocrine glands leading to airway obstruction is cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects the exocrine glands, which produce mucus, sweat, and other secretions. In CF, the exocrine glands produce thick, sticky mucus that can clog the airways and cause difficulty breathing. CF also affects the pancreas and other organs, and can lead to a number of complications, including malnutrition, diabetes, and liver disease.
