  • Alveoli Tissue: Understanding Simple Squamous Epithelium in the Lungs
Alveoli are the tiny, balloon-like structures in the lungs where gas exchange takes place. They are lined with a type of tissue called simple squamous epithelium. This tissue is made up of a single layer of thin, flat cells that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to pass through easily. Simple squamous epithelium is also found in the lining of the blood vessels and in the air sacs of the lungs.
