  • Hyenas in Europe: Where & Why Their Numbers Are Critically Low
    There are indeed hyenas in Europe, specifically in the Balkan Peninsula. The striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena) has a limited population in Albania and Greece. However, their numbers are very low and they are listed as critically endangered in Europe by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
