  • The Sun's Color: Why is it Yellow?
The Sun itself is actually white. We see it as yellow due to the way our atmosphere scatters sunlight. Here's the breakdown:

    * Sunlight is made up of all the colors of the rainbow. This is why we see rainbows when sunlight passes through water droplets.

    * Our atmosphere scatters blue light more than other colors. This is why the sky appears blue.

    * When we look at the sun directly, the blue light is scattered away, leaving behind the other colors which appear yellow to our eyes.

However, if you were to see the sun from space, it would appear white, as there's no atmosphere to scatter the blue light.
