  • Mercury: The Sun's Closest Planet and Its Gravity
The planet closest to the sun is Mercury. While it has the least gravity out of the inner planets (Venus, Earth, and Mars), it's not the planet with the least gravity overall.

    Here's why:

    * Mercury's gravity is actually quite strong. It's about 38% of Earth's gravity. That means you'd weigh about 38% of your Earth weight on Mercury.

    * The gas giants (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune) have much weaker gravity. This is because they are made mostly of gas and have a much lower density than the rocky planets.

To answer your question more directly:

    * If you're looking for the planet with the least gravity, that would be Saturn. It has a gravitational pull of only about 10.44 m/s². This is less than half the gravity of Mercury.
