  • Understanding Our Solar System: Planets, Moons, Asteroids & More
Everything that travels around the Sun is part of our solar system. Here's a breakdown of the major components:

    Planets:

    * Inner Planets: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars

    * Outer Planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune

    Dwarf Planets:

    * Pluto, Eris, Makemake, Haumea, Ceres

    Moons:

    * Each planet (except Mercury and Venus) has one or more moons orbiting it.

    Asteroids:

    * Rocky, irregularly shaped bodies mostly found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

    Comets:

    * Icy bodies that orbit the Sun in highly elliptical paths, often producing a visible tail.

    Other Objects:

    * Kuiper Belt Objects: Icy bodies beyond Neptune.

    * Oort Cloud: A theoretical cloud of icy objects very far from the Sun.

    * Interplanetary Dust: Tiny particles of rock and ice that orbit the Sun.

    * Solar Wind: A stream of charged particles constantly flowing from the Sun.

Important Note: While everything listed above orbits the Sun, the term "travels around the Sun" isn't always precise. Some objects, like comets, have highly eccentric orbits that take them far from the Sun.
