  • Sun's Composition: Hydrogen, Helium & Trace Elements - A Detailed Breakdown
    The Sun is primarily composed of two gases:

    * Hydrogen (H): Makes up about 70.6% of the Sun's mass.

    * Helium (He): Makes up about 27.4% of the Sun's mass.

    While these two gases are dominant, there are trace amounts of other elements present as well. These include:

    * Oxygen (O)

    * Carbon (C)

    * Neon (Ne)

    * Iron (Fe)

    * Silicon (Si)

    * Magnesium (Mg)

    * Sulfur (S)

    * Nickel (Ni)

    * Calcium (Ca)

    * Chromium (Cr)

    These trace elements make up less than 2% of the Sun's mass but play important roles in various processes within the Sun, like nuclear fusion.
