  • Mars Moons: Exploring the Odd Shapes of Phobos & Deimos
Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. Both are irregularly shaped and are thought to be captured asteroids.

    * Phobos is potato-shaped and has a crater called Stickney, which is about one-third the diameter of Phobos itself.

    * Deimos is even more irregularly shaped, resembling an elongated, lumpy potato.

They are not perfectly round like our moon because they lack enough mass to become spherical due to their own gravity.
