  • The Invention of the Light Microscope: A Historical Overview
The first compound microscope, meaning one with two lenses, was invented in the late 16th century, around 1590-1600.

However, there's no single inventor definitively credited. It's believed to have been a collaborative effort by Dutch spectacle makers Zacharias Janssen and his father Hans Janssen, though some argue the invention may have belonged to Cornelis Drebbel, who later made improvements to the design.

It's important to note that while the microscope was invented around this time, it wasn't until later that it saw widespread use and development.
