  • Stars Dimmer Than the Sun: Types & Characteristics
There are many types of stars less bright than the Sun! Here are a few examples:

    * Red Dwarfs: These are the most common type of star in the Milky Way. They are much smaller and cooler than the Sun, giving off a reddish glow and emitting significantly less light.

    * White Dwarfs: These are the remnants of stars like our Sun after they have exhausted their nuclear fuel. While they are incredibly dense, they are also very small and have cooled down, making them dimmer than the Sun.

    * Brown Dwarfs: These are "failed stars" that are not massive enough to sustain nuclear fusion. They are much cooler and dimmer than red dwarfs, and emit primarily in the infrared spectrum.

    * Main Sequence Stars: There are many main sequence stars smaller and less luminous than our Sun, such as K and M class stars. These stars are cooler and have a lower mass than the Sun, resulting in less energy output.

So, to answer your question directly, there's no one specific type of star that is less bright than the Sun. There are many!
