  • Gas Giants: Exploring the Planets Made of Primarily Hydrogen and Helium
    The planets that are mostly just a ball of gas are called gas giants. They are:

    * Jupiter

    * Saturn

    * Uranus

    * Neptune

    These planets have very little solid surface. They are composed primarily of hydrogen and helium, with traces of other gases like methane, ammonia, and water. They have very strong gravitational pulls, which keeps all their gas from escaping into space.

    While these planets are often called "gas giants," it's important to note that their interiors are likely to contain a dense, liquid core.
