  • Ganymede vs. Europa: Which Moon is the Brightest?
Ganymede is not the brightest moon in our solar system. Europa is actually the brightest moon, reflecting about 50% of the sunlight that hits it.

Here's why Ganymede is not the brightest:

    * Surface composition: Europa's surface is primarily made of water ice, which reflects light very well. Ganymede, on the other hand, has a more diverse surface with ice, rock, and even regions of darker materials, resulting in lower reflectivity.

    * Size: While Ganymede is the largest moon in our solar system, its large size does not directly translate to brightness. Brightness is determined by the amount of light reflected, not simply the size of the object.

Therefore, while Ganymede is a fascinating moon with its own unique characteristics, it's Europa that holds the title of the brightest moon in our solar system.
