  • Sun's Rotation Period: Galileo's Observations & Later Discoveries
Galileo did not discover the rotation period of the Sun. He did observe sunspots and their movement across the Sun's surface, which provided evidence for the Sun's rotation. However, he did not accurately measure the rotation period.

It was later, in the 17th century, that astronomers like Giovanni Cassini were able to more accurately measure the Sun's rotation period, which is approximately 25 days at the equator.
