  • Nicolaus Copernicus: The Father of the Heliocentric Theory
The person who developed the heliocentric explanation for the motion of planets in the 1500s was Nicolaus Copernicus.

He published his groundbreaking work, "De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium" (On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres), in 1543, shortly before his death. This book proposed that the Sun, not the Earth, was the center of the solar system. While his theory was met with resistance at first, it ultimately revolutionized astronomy and paved the way for future scientific discoveries.
