  • The 5 Officially Recognized Dwarf Planets in Our Solar System
It's not quite accurate to say there are only 3 dwarf planets. There are currently five officially recognized dwarf planets in our solar system:

    * Ceres: Located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

    * Pluto: Formerly considered the ninth planet, it's now classified as a dwarf planet in the Kuiper belt beyond Neptune.

    * Eris: Also found in the Kuiper belt, Eris is slightly larger than Pluto.

    * Makemake: Another Kuiper belt object, Makemake is slightly smaller than Pluto.

    * Haumea: This dwarf planet is located in the Kuiper belt and is known for its elongated shape.

There are also many other celestial bodies that may be classified as dwarf planets in the future, as astronomers continue to explore the outer solar system.
