* Their orbits can vary greatly, meaning their distance from the Sun changes constantly.
* Some meteoroids come from the asteroid belt, which lies between Mars and Jupiter.
* Others come from comets, which can have very elongated orbits that take them far beyond Pluto.
* Some meteoroids are even thought to come from outside our solar system!
So, while we can't say a meteoroid is always a specific distance from the Sun, we know they travel through our solar system and can come from various locations within it.
