  • Sirius Star Size: How Does It Compare to the Sun?
That's not quite right. Sirius, while being the brightest star in our night sky, is actually slightly smaller than our Sun.

    Here's the breakdown:

    * Sirius A (the main star): It's about 1.7 times the mass of our Sun and about 1.7 times its diameter.

    * Sirius B (a white dwarf companion): It's much smaller, roughly the size of the Earth, but with about the same mass as the Sun.

So, while Sirius A is larger than our Sun, it's not 10 times bigger. The reason Sirius appears so bright is that it's much hotter and more luminous than our Sun.
