  • Geocentric vs. Heliocentric Model of the Solar System: A Historical Overview
The Ptolemaic model of the solar system, which was the prevailing model for centuries, was geocentric. This means it placed the Earth at the center of the universe, with the Sun, Moon, and other planets revolving around it.

However, the heliocentric model, which places the Sun at the center of the solar system, was proposed by Nicolaus Copernicus in the 16th century. His theory was controversial at the time but was eventually supported by observations made by Galileo Galilei and others.

Today, the heliocentric model is the accepted model of the solar system.
