  • Finding the North Pole: What Happens When Polaris is at Zenith?
If Polaris, the North Star, is seen at Zenith, you would be standing at the North Pole.

    Here's why:

    * Polaris is aligned with Earth's axis of rotation. This means it appears almost stationary in the sky, while other stars appear to circle around it.

    * Zenith is the point directly overhead.

    * The North Pole is the only point on Earth where Polaris is directly overhead (at Zenith). As you move further away from the North Pole, Polaris appears lower in the sky.

So, if you see Polaris at Zenith, you've found the northernmost point on Earth!
