* Sun's Density: Approximately 1.41 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³)
* Earth's Density: Approximately 5.52 g/cm³
What this means:
* Earth is about 4 times denser than the Sun. This might seem counterintuitive since the Sun is made of incredibly hot, dense plasma. However, the Sun is also incredibly large, and its gravity pulls its matter outwards, decreasing its overall density.
* Density is a measure of how much mass is packed into a given volume. Earth's solid, rocky composition leads to a much higher density than the Sun's mostly hydrogen and helium plasma.
Interesting Note: While the Sun's overall density is lower than Earth's, the density at the Sun's core is incredibly high due to the immense pressure. This core density is many times higher than Earth's overall density.
