  • Shadow Direction: Understanding Sun Position and Shadow Fall
    When the sun is in the eastern half of the sky, shadows fall to the west.

    Here's why:

    * The sun rises in the east.

    * Shadows are cast opposite the direction of the light source.

    * As the sun moves across the sky from east to west, the shadows move with it, always pointing in the opposite direction.
