"Apollo" was the name of the entire NASA program that aimed to land humans on the Moon. Within the program, there were different components:
* Apollo Command and Service Module (CSM): This was the part of the spacecraft that housed the astronauts during the journey to and from the Moon and during lunar orbit.
* Apollo Lunar Module (LM): This was the lander that took two astronauts to the lunar surface and back.
Therefore, while "Apollo" was the overarching name of the program, the individual spacecraft were referred to by their mission numbers, such as Apollo 11, Apollo 13, and so on.
