  • Milky Way & Sagittarius: Which Constellation Hosts Our Galaxy's Center?
The Milky Way galaxy runs through the center of the Sagittarius constellation.

While the Milky Way appears as a band of light across the sky, it's actually a flattened disk of stars, gas, and dust that we're looking at edge-on. The center of this disk is located in the direction of Sagittarius, which is why we see a denser concentration of stars in that part of the sky.
