  • Moonlight: How the Moon Reflects Sunlight & Appears to Glow
The moon itself does not emit light. It reflects light from the sun.

    Here's how it works:

    * Sunlight: The sun is a giant ball of burning gas that emits light and heat.

    * Reflection: When sunlight reaches the moon, it bounces off the moon's surface, just like light bounces off a mirror.

    * Moonlight: The reflected sunlight is what we see as moonlight.

So, while the moon appears to be shining, it's actually just acting like a giant mirror, reflecting the sun's light back to us.
