  • Understanding Why We See Stars at Night
It's a common misconception that stars are always there at night. While it seems that way because we can't see them during the day, the truth is:

    * Stars are always there: They don't magically appear at night and disappear during the day. They are constantly shining, day and night.

    * Sunlight overpowers starlight: The Sun's light is so incredibly bright that it completely washes out the much fainter light from distant stars. This is why we can't see them during the day.

    * Earth's rotation: As Earth spins, the sky appears to move, and different parts of the sky become visible as night falls. This is why we see different constellations at different times of the year.

So, the next time you look up at the night sky, remember that you're seeing just a small portion of the stars that are always there, even during the day.
