  • Red & Green Flashing Lights in the Night Sky: Aircraft or Something Else?
It's impossible to tell you what a red and green flashing star is in the southeast sky without more information. Here's why:

    * Stars don't flash: Stars are giant balls of burning gas and emit a constant light. They don't flash or change color.

    * It could be an aircraft: The most likely explanation is that you're seeing an aircraft with navigation lights. Red and green lights are common on aircraft, and they can appear to flash depending on the angle and distance from your viewing position.

    * It could be a satellite: Satellites can also appear as bright, moving lights in the sky. They might be reflecting sunlight, causing them to appear bright and even change color depending on their position.

To get a better idea of what you're seeing, consider these:

    * Location and time: Where were you standing when you saw the light? What time of day was it? This can help narrow down potential objects.

    * Movement: Was the light stationary or moving? If it was moving, how fast and in what direction?

    * Duration: How long did the light last? Did it flash repeatedly or just once?

If you can provide more information, I might be able to give you a more specific answer.
