It's actually one of the closest star systems to us, only about 4.37 light-years away.

The farthest star from Earth that we know of is GN-z11, a very distant galaxy estimated to be about 13.4 billion light-years away.

There are likely many stars even farther away than that, but they are too faint and distant for us to detect with current technology.
