  • The Sun's Composition: A Deep Dive into Solar Matter
The Sun is a giant ball of hot gas, primarily made up of:

    * Hydrogen (H): About 70.6% of the Sun's mass is hydrogen. This is the fuel that powers the Sun through nuclear fusion.

    * Helium (He): About 27.4% of the Sun's mass is helium. This is a product of the nuclear fusion process.

    * Other Elements: The remaining 2% of the Sun's mass is made up of trace amounts of heavier elements like oxygen, carbon, neon, iron, and others.

It's important to note that the Sun is not a solid object. It's a plasma, which is a superheated gas where electrons are stripped from their atoms, creating a mixture of ions and free electrons.
