  • Third Quarter Moon Visibility: Timing & Explanation
A third quarter moon is visible in the early morning hours, around sunrise.

    Here's why:

    * Lunar Phases: The moon's phases are caused by the changing angles at which we see the sunlit portion of the moon as it orbits the Earth.

    * Third Quarter: In the third quarter phase, the moon is about three-quarters of the way through its orbit, and half of the sunlit side is visible.

    * Position: Since the sun is rising in the east, the third quarter moon, which is opposite the sun in the sky, is visible in the east before sunrise.

You can use a moon phase calendar or an astronomy app to find the exact dates and times when a third quarter moon will be visible in your location.
