Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy: Our Milky Way's Nearest Galactic Neighbor
The closest galaxy to the Milky Way is the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy.
While Andromeda is often cited as the closest, it's actually a *spiral galaxy*, not a dwarf galaxy. The Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way and is much closer, at a distance of around 25,000 light-years from Earth.
