  • The Sun's Motion: Orbiting the Milky Way & Solar System Dynamics
The Sun does not orbit anything in the traditional sense. It's the center of our solar system, and all the planets, asteroids, and other objects orbit *around* it.

However, the Sun isn't completely still. It does move:

    * Orbiting the Milky Way: The Sun, along with the entire solar system, orbits the center of the Milky Way galaxy. This orbit takes approximately 225-250 million years to complete.

    * Movement within the Milky Way: The Sun and the solar system are also moving within the galactic disk, traveling at a speed of about 220 kilometers per second.

So, while the Sun doesn't orbit anything within our solar system, it does move in relation to the larger structures around it.
